Video at Skylake Yosemite Camp is where campers become filmmakers for the summer. For the budding director, producer, and actor, video has a bit of it all: campers come up with short movie concepts, then shoot, direct, and edit their films using Skylake's Mac computers, preparing finished movies for everyone's viewing pleasure.

It's a full creative pipeline in miniature — brainstorming a story, casting friends, scouting locations around camp (a five-mile lake and Sierra pine forest make quite a backlot), filming scenes between activities, and editing it all together. Screenings for cabinmates and the wider camp turn each project into a shared event, and the finished films become part of each summer's lore.

Worth noting for parents: this is the one carefully-scoped exception in Skylake's screen-free program — technology used as a creative tool with staff guidance, never for passive screen time, games, or internet access.
