At Skylake, campers choose the activities they most want to take part in a camp. As part of the registration process, campers select from a wide choice of activities. Each day between breakfast and lunch, campers rotate among three selected activities. These include waterfront activities; land activities such as horseback riding, mountain biking and camp crafts; and daytrips or backpacking trips to Yosemite and other wilderness areas. After dinner, campers join in the fun of "twilight sports" before gathering for a nightly campfire with skits, traditional camp songs, and endless fun games. Click on the "Daily Schedule" icon to learn about a camper's entire day.

Skylake's large private dock is located on a quiet cove on Bass Lake. It's a short walk down our "swim trail" from central camp. Here, campers swim in a warm-water lake with an enclosed dock area for our younger swimmers. Waterfront activities are among the favorites. Camp ski boats take campers out on the lake for waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and our ever popular "Banana Boat" ride. Campers choosing a slightly more relaxed water sport have great fun teaming up in our canoes, kayaks, and sailboards. Two-week and four-week campers have the opportunity to take part in the "width-of-the-lake" swim event…about ¾ of a mile. And extraordinary swimmers may take part in our early dawn "Length-of-the-lake" swim…about 5 miles. Generations of Skylake campers have accomplished this amazing feat. All staff stationed on the Skylake dock and driving the ski boats are CPR, First Aid, and life guard certified. Every camper is routinely swim-tested on opening day of every session.

The Skylake property includes a multi purpose field for soccer and baseball, a horse arena, camp crafts building with every art project imaginable including ceramics and kiln, archery range, challenging ropes course, basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts, a beautiful nature area, and endless other activities…like guitar classes and drama. We also offer photography, both digital and traditional, with dark room. And our video film making has become very popular. Skylake has 16 horses for both arena riding and trail riding into the mountains. And, there are plenty of mountain bikes for out-of-camp rides in the woods. After dinner each evening, campers take part in twilight sports before gathering in the camp's amphitheater for the nightly campfire…a storied Skylake tradition…with skits, camp songs and games.

With Yosemite National Park in Skylake's "backyard" and the beautiful high-country wilderness areas close by, out-of-camp day trips and backpack trips are scheduled almost daily. Trips include Yosemite Valley where campers can visit the Ansel Adams Museum, Glacier Point, the Mist Trail, Nevada Falls and Vernal Falls. After the wet spring of 2006, the famous Mist Trail was absolutely breathtaking! And it is not uncommon for some of our first session campers to encounter snow in the high-country. Our Senior and CILT campers, with parental permission, also have the opportunity to climb Half Dome, a strenuous but gratifying 20-hour accomplishment we call "Dome in a Day." Campers are transported in Skylake 8-passenger vans and all drivers are at least 21 years of age. The trips staff is uniquely qualified for backpacking trips, including additional first aid training.
